The event is hosted by Deep Blue Scuba & Swim Center and sponsored by Swim For Life foundation, Care Ambulance, Long Beach Lifeguard Association, & National Drowning Prevention Alliance.

About Water Safety Expo
Drowning is the leading cause of death for children under the age of four. In an effort to spread awareness about the importance of water safety, Deep Blue Scuba & Swim Center has teamed up with the Swim For Life Foundation, Care Ambulance, the Long Beach Lifeguard Association, and the National Drowning Prevention Alliance to host a Water Safety Expo. At this free event, children will have the opportunity to get in the pool and participate in various water safety exercises with instructors, there will be informational handouts on how to be safer around water, the Long Beach Life Guards will be there to answer questions and give out information, Care Ambulance will be in attendance with their Safer 3 Unit for kids to check out, and there will be open swim for families in the shallow pool. Please come and support the efforts to spread water safety awareness and decrease drowning incidents. Drowning is preventable!

In an effort to spread awareness about the importance of water safety we are hosting a Safer 3 Water Safety Challenge! At this event we will be having children get in the pool for various water safety challenges and we will be handing out information for both parents and children on how to be safe while around water. The Long Beach Life Guards will be present to answer questions and give out information as well as Care Ambulance with their Safer 3 Ambulance for the kids to check out. Best of all this event is FREE!! Please come and support our efforts to spread awareness and decrease drownings, bring your friends and family to join in the fun as well.

If you've been diving with us for a while, you know that we hold Underwater Cleanups every other month.  The last one was at Avalon, so it has actually been a while since we cleaned up the Belmont Pier.  So come help us!  We'll be diving in conjunction with a beach cleanup being led by the El Dorado Nature Center in celebration of Earth Day! 

Please park down by the Belmont Pier and be at the waiver table by 7:30am.  There's paperwork to fill out (as always), you can set up your gear, and we'll brief at 8am.  You MUST be present at the 8am briefing in order to dive.  We'll dive shortly after and be walking out of the water around 9:15am.  The Beach Clean Up led by the Nature Center starts at 9, so you'll be the coolest cats on the beach as you walk out of the water in full scuba gear and all the kids are starting their cleanup!  (We wanted to start you earlier so nobody overheats as the sun heats up.) 

Drop us a line to let us know you're coming (scuba@deepbluelongbeach.com) and remember that rentals are free for the event!  Please keep in mind that these are very popular events and we typically run out of rental equipment - it is highly recommended to come early Friday if you don't already own the gear.  (Or, mention you saw this message and are coming to the event and we'll give you 10% off any gear purchase you need.)
